Small tribute to M ª Jesús Herrero, antique
ua director.

Our former director, M ª Jesús Herrero Gonzalez began his musical studies at the age of nine years in his native city, Algeciras. A year later would join the band of his people, at the age of 17 he entered the Conservatory of Music "Manuel Castillo" de Sevilla to continue his musical studies.

studied piano, saxophone, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, History of Music, Chamber Music, Musical forms ... His teachers: Mrs. Bernadette Gutierrez, Juan Rodriguez, Don Antonio Flores among others.

music has taken courses with Doña Pilar Bilbao and José Manuel DeDiego professors of piano and music management courses with Don Vicente Sanchis and Don Enrique García Asensio, in 2003 finished a BA in Language of Music, Professor of Piano and saxophone, and that same year the City of Gines (Sevilla) gives credit for his work as a professor of School of Music and the Banda Municipal foundation of this town.

In November 2003 the city again native to lead the band of his people, in summer 2006, is director of our Banda Municipal de Música de Jimena. After four years at the helm of this group, Herrero Maria Jesus leaves the direction of the band in June 2010.

From here we appreciate the effort and work done during his career for our band, like the collaboration of his father, Amanda Smith. With them we have learned a lot, and especially a very important thing: being a musician.
! Thank you both! Good luck.

Juan Carlos Ocaña, presented as new director Banda Municipal de Música de Jimena

The delegate municipal Culture Department of Jimena Juan José Rondón, presented this afternoon to the new director of the Banda Municipal de Musica de Jimena de la Frontera, Juan Carlos Ocaña Muñoz. The presentation took place at the Casa de la Cultura Leopoldo de Luis to the very members of this formation, which had suspended its trials in June.

With the appointment of new director, the Banda Municipal de Música de Jimena de la Frontera began a new journey in which they seek to recover the involvement of the group, the task of training new musicians and group participation events and activities organized in Jimena.
Rondón has
started his presentation by reviewing the history of the band since its inception in 2003 under the direction of Francisco Navarro Lara and, later, Juan de Dios Fernández González. In 2006, María Jesús Herrera, director of the Banda Municipal de Algeciras, took over the front of the group, to serve until last June, when the municipal delegation of Culture decided to stop the activity of the band deal with delays in payments that had been made and start a new phase. New

director
Councilman of Culture has also explained to the members of the group how was the process of electing a new director. She stated that last October began to solicit proposals and projects by professionals interested in taking the direction of the band.

Among the various proposals we chose to run by Juan Carlos Ocaña Muñoz, director of the Symphony Orchestra "Friends of Music" in Algeciras, who will work in collaboration with Paul Riley, a former director of the Volunteer Banda Navy's first Trombone Gibraltar and the Band of HM Elizabeth II Regiment. Planning

The new team director band will begin work imminently. Thus, throughout the month of December, several tests carried out among the members level of training and people interested in becoming part of the same and the allocation of instruments.

Rehearsals will begin in January, taking place every Friday from 16.00 to 20.00 hours in the House of Culture "Leopoldo de Luis."
Meanwhile, the City will assume the financial remuneration of the direction of the band and will transfer, if possible, an instrument to each class member. Funding is secured for all by 2010 through its inclusion among the projects supported by the Plan E.

The partnership created by the band members will be responsible for managing the collection of monthly fees from its partners and the money generated by the group potential recruits by private or public entities other than the City Council Jimena. __________________________________________________________________________
